In Quest of Sunshine in the Land of the Rising Sun

Ever since the dreadful case of rape of a 23 year old girl in the capital of the biggest democracy in the world in 2012, the security and position of women in the global south are being discussed vividly, as the development of a nation in the contemporary times not only depends upon its economic power but also on its human development index. However, what is often ignored is that the local day to day traditions are the evidence of a woman’s position in a society as the same cannot improve overnight. The result of this is media coverage that wildly distorts the actual factual record. In order to establish his point, Rudolf applies the propaganda model coined in by Edward Herman and Noam Chomesky on three case studies: (a) Israeli attack on Gaza Strip in 2009, (b) US backed genocide in Nicaragua in early 80s and (c) US-led war against Iraq in the aftermath of the 9/11.

What is Truth?

In the pursuit of knowledge by description, wrong assumptions are possible. When we try to discuss the knowledge of truths, it becomes clear that this type of knowledge, as opposed to the knowledge of things, has a problematic opposite called ‘error’. There exists a dualism; we believe things falsely as well as truly. Since many people hold different and incompatible beliefs, some of them must be erroneous. The urgent question on this issue is how to distinguish truly held beliefs from those falsely held. Perhaps, no satisfactory answer is possible, but before approaching possible answers, there must first be an investigation into the meaning of the concepts of truth and falsehood. This article is an approach to explain the human analysis and knowledge of the thought – ‘truth’.
